Classical Ballet
Through Biomechanics & Conscious Movement
The cornerstone of this practice is biomechanics and conscious movement, approaching classical technique as one of many possible systems for movement research—explored through self-awareness, personal bodily inquiry, and anatomical consciousness. Starting from the fundamentals of the technique, the class moves through its core logic, vocabulary, and meaning to build a movement language. Internal and external space, mechanisms, alignment axes, forces, and energy serve as the drivers of action, bridging form and content.
Comfortable clothing and bare feet are required for the beginning of the class.
Prior registration is required to attend.
Contemporary Language & Improvisation
Approached through the concept of wholeness—from what we understand as our totality.
The body, space, interest, desire, the group, time, and energy serve as supports and triggers for action.
The class is structured into two main parts:
-
First: Warm-up and entry into practice, body structure awareness, tensegrity activation, muscle tone work, strength, alignment, weight, flexibility, endurance, and floor work fundamentals.
-
Second: Group exercises and movement sequences, incorporating and playing with techniques such as Flying Low, Passing Through, and elements of Release—putting all explored elements into action to serve the search for this integrated body/dance.
Prior registration is required to attend.
Contemporary Dance and Improvisation
Physical Conditioning and Flexibility
Through Physical Conditioning and Flexibility, the aim is to foster a conscious and healthy relationship with the body, working actively with and from it, thereby allowing us to understand both its limitations and possibilities.
The classes offer a proprioceptive and holistic approach where breath, the tensegrity activation of myofascial chains, power training and its nuances, active listening, and the element of surprise are of paramount importance in the development and exploration of movement.
We follow a progressive approach studying basic anatomical concepts, which serve as essential tools when engaging in any type of physical activity. Throughout the sessions, we work on power, strength, speed, plyometrics, coordination, reactivity, control, and balance through a variety of exercises, games, circuits, and movement sequences. Movement is also approached through different guidelines for improvisation and research.
The main objective of the classes is to understand, empower, and rediscover our bodies to maximize all movement possibilities and variations, prevent injuries, and explore new movement dynamics and qualities.
Prior registration is required to attend.
